- April 5th, 2022
The Sala de la Muralla of the Principal Peset Hall of Residence hosts this exhibition that is woven around the relationship between women and the sea. With this exhibition, the women artists' association Blanco, Negro y Magenta wants to raise awareness in society about the relationship that has been established throughout history between women and the sea and does so through a dialogue between the works that make up the exhibition in different formats such as drawings, photographs, videos, textile works and sculptures.
[D]ONES, pun and origin of life, element and beginning of all things, women and the sea have maintained a varied and intense relationship throughout time. No culture has been unaware of the web that has been woven between them. From the Egyptian Isis and the Phoenician Astarte who became patrons of navigation; the Nordic Ati became goddess of the sea, and Basque folklore had the Arrainandere. Today they stand out because they have become excellent oceanographers and naval engineers, sustaining their households with diverse jobs in shellfishing, selling fish, canning and much more.
The artist members of the association who are participating are Alexandra R. Rey, Almudena Armenta, Amalie Leschamps, Bárbara Velasco, Blanca Prendes, Canal Bedia, Concha Mayordomo, Charo Corrales, Emi Azor, Esperanza Durán, Eva Rodríguez, Leticia Reyero, Lo Súper, Marga Colás, María Vega, María Jesús Manzanares, Marta Albarrán, Narges Bazarjani, Pilar Belmonte, Rebeka Elizegi, Rocío Anhert, Soniya Patel, Teresa Blanco, Violeta Andreu, Virginia Rivas, Yolanda Lalonso and on this occasion the exhibition has Isabel Oliver as guest artist.
