Philarmonic orchestra of the Universitat de València expands its presence in Gandia

Since this academic year, the Philarmonic orchestra of the Universitat de València will offer two concerts in the main city of the region Safor. The new agreement with Centre de Gandia and Àrea d’Activitats Musicals of the Fundació General of the Universitat was presented on 4th October, Friday, at a press conference.

J. Emili Aura, director of UVgandia; Beatriz Fernández, director of the Orchestra; and Nahuel Gonzàlez, councilor of Culture at Gandia City Council, presented on Friday  the new agreement with Àrea d’Activitats Musicals of the Fundación General of the Universitat de València that expands the presence of the Orchestra in this city.

Since this academic year, two concerts will be played by the Philarmonic orchestra of the University of Gandia annually. The first of them will take place the next 17th October on the occasion of the opening of the academic course. The second concert will be played near the Christmas time. Both events will take place at Teatro Serrano, thanks to the collaboration of Gandia City Council.

The councilor of Culture described as “very rewarding” this new cultural offer, highlighting the collaboration between both institutions and “pointing out the value of the cultural force formed by Casa de la Marquesa and Teatro Serrano”.  On his behalf, the director of Centro de Gandia of the Universitat considered that expanding the presence of the Universitat de València in the city through culture is always “a good decision”.

Beatriz Fernández, director of the Orchestra, was the responsible of present the programme that will be included in both  symphonic concerts. The first will presents a varied programme with Mozart, Debussy or Schumann pieces, while in the Christmas’ concert “looks for people’s complicity due to present most popular Russian and Polish waltzes of Chaikovski”. Both events will be open to people and will be at 7:30 pm.

Furthermore, the Àrea d’Activitats Musicals of the Fundació General of the Universitat de València will have presence in the city through two training activities. In fact, the opening course concert has as a partner the workshop “(De) construyendo la música: vamos de concierto”, organized also by CEFIRE Gandia. His representant, Daniel Vidal, explained that this training tries to “tell the audience the routines and required strategies to listen differently the concert of 17th October”. This workshop, free registration, will take place on afternoons of 14th and 17th October at Casa de la Marquesa and at Teatro Serrano, respectively.
