Ana Mª Gómez, new Universitat's Sports Service director

Professor Ana Mª Gómez has been named director of the Sports Service of the Universitat de València. Gómez combines her experience in university teaching and research with a long career in sports management, especially linked to the Municipal Sports Foundation of the Valencia City Council.

She replaces Vicent Añó, a professor in the Faculty of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences at the Universitat, who has also had a long career in sports management and who has retired.

Ana Mª Gómez is a professor at the Faculty of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences. She has developed her research mainly in sport management, gender and women, sport participation and entrepreneurship in sport organisations.

She has taught on the former Spanish Undergraduate Degree and Undergraduate Degree in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences in subjects related to sport management and physical activity and health. She has also participated as a researcher in various contracts and projects with companies and public administrations, as well as competitive projects to develop her research. These have focused on the analysis of the satisfaction of users of sports centres, on the study of the social and economic impact of sporting events, on demand studies such as the sporting habits of schoolchildren or the demand for physical activity of citizens, on entrepreneurship in the sports management field and on women.

She has been invited as a guest speaker at various conferences, where she has presented the results of her research. She is also a member of the Sport Management & Innovation research group at the Universitat de València. Her main lines of research focus on the analysis of the service's emotional dimensions, together with the study of the factors that influence the loyalty of sport services' users, in sport entrepreneurship and also in sport events.

Apart from the Universitat, she has experience in the professional sports management field, both in the private and public spheres. She spent 18 years at the Municipal Sports Foundation of Valencia (from 2002 to 2020), where she was head of the sports facilities management control section.
