Funded by the three-year research project AICO/2021/225, this conference delves into the relation between women and the entertainment industry of the nineteenth century and its afterlives.

The conference program includes papers by leading experts in the field and keynote addresses delivered by Beth Palmer (University of Surrey), Janice Norwood (University of Hertfordshire) and Lin Pettersson (Universidad de Málaga). We are also glad to announce the presence of Spanish writer Vanessa Montfort and English playwright Polly Teale, whose acclaimed trilogy on the lives of the Brontë sisters was widely applauded by the public and critics.

Director Ian Rickson (artistic director of the Royal Court Theatre in London between 1998 and 2006), who is directing “All of Us” at the National Theatre at present, will also participate in the conference with an interview on his works.

Registered attendees we will also be able to enjoy the show Jim's Leg and The Mothers' Meeting by L. S. Phibbs translated by group member Miguel Teruel and staged by Cactus Teatre (an after-show talk will follow) on Wednesday evening at Sala Matilde Salvador.
